Skills USA State Competition
by Kristina Burton, WLKR News

The Lake Cumberland Area Technology Skills USA Club recently traveled to state competition in Lexington, KY.  Out of the 10 students that competed, 7 of them returned with 1st place wins!  This secures each of them a spot at national competition this summer in Kansas City, MO.

The three competing teams were focused on welding fabrication, mechatronics, and robotics. Making up the welding fabrication team were Dakota Carter, Kody Fox, and Zach Pierce who returned with a 1st place win. Cody Huckaby and John Warner were members of the mechatronics team who also scored a 1st place win. The robotics team was made up of Jared Bloyd and Bodie Emerson, who won 1st place, as well. Jake Blakey also competed in Job Skills Demonstration and received 3rd place.

All in all, the Skills USA Club certainly made RCHS proud, and we wish them the best of luck at nationals this summer!
