Russell County Schools 20-21 Reopening Plan & Survey

Russell County Schools Reopening Plan (Current as of July 24, 2020) (opens in PDF)

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We need your help in getting a very accurate count of students that will be attending in-person classes or via distance learning.  Detailed information will allow school level personnel to divide classes accordingly, etc.  Please complete the short survey found here: We need you to complete a separate survey for EACH child in your household.  If we do not have your household’s response by Monday, someone from your child’s school will call to get the information.

We realize that families need options due to current public health conditions.  We are pleased to offer families two choices: in-person classes or distance learning.  I have attached our overall reopening plan that provides the highlights of in-person classes and distance learning.  I also want to be open and transparent with you in that it is likely that we will NOT get to start as planned on August 26, if current COVID-19 cases continue to rise and/or do not decline.  Thankfully, we are not starting school until August 26 so there is still time for the current mitigation efforts to work (everyone wearing mask, etc.)  Obviously, we cannot make the decision to start all classes via distance learning now but I want families to have time to plan if we do have to start via all distance learning.

Please know that Russell County Schools is here to assist you and your family!
